The El Enemigo wines, from the Aleanna winery, are the most personal wines of Alejandro Vigil, one of Argentina’s leading winemakers and chief winemaker at Catena Zapata. The Gran Enemigo line focuses on showcasing different terroirs in the Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo through Cabernet Franc, co-fermented with a small amount of Malbec.
Gualtallary, in particular, comes from the Adrianna vineyard—Catena’s crown jewel—with calcareous soils that produce wines rich in nuance and subtlety, and with a somewhat untamed character. This Gran Enemigo is austere, with fine tannins and plenty of freshness.
